About

Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. MGR Government Arts and Science College was established as per Government Order No. 162 in the academic year 2013–2014 on September 13, 2013. Initially, the college functioned on the campus of Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Uthiramerur.

On November 30, 2015, a permanent building was constructed at Thirupulivanam village, Uthiramerur, and was inaugurated by the Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu through video conferencing. Following this, the college was shifted to its new premises. As per Government Order No. 266, dated September 19, 2017, the institution was renamed "Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. MGR Government Arts and Science College."

In the academic year 2020–2021, a dedicated building with laboratory facilities was constructed for the Physics and Chemistry departments and was inaugurated by the Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu through video conferencing.

This college is strategically located on the Uthiramerur – Kanchipuram Road, providing enhanced higher education opportunities for students residing in Uthiramerur Taluk, Kanchipuram District, and the numerous surrounding villages.
